Funding – Temperature Regulation
Medical Cooling and Heating Electricity Concession Scheme:
The Queensland Government offers the Medical Cooling and Heating Electricity Scheme to eligible low-income Queenslanders. This scheme is designed to support eligible people with increased electricity costs incurred by operation of air conditioning units that assist with regulating body temperature to prevent worsening of a medical condition, including spinal cord injury.
A medical specialist must confirm a person qualifies for this scheme based on the prescribed medical criteria. People with spinal cord injury above T6 level may qualify if they have autonomic system dysfunction in addition to loss of regulation of sweating or severe immobility.
